The area around the South Exit of Shimokita, as Shimokitazawa is usually called, is probably the most famous one, where you can get lost in the little streets full of colorful shops and friendly people all unique in their own way. You’ll find second-hand clothes right next to designer shops, old traditional restaurants and bright cafes, enjoy street lives and social gatherings, or if you exit the other side of the station, you’ll find a great variety of small theaters, where you practically inhale the atmosphere of the play and actors cause of the close distance. There’s also great shutter art for most of the shops’ shutters, but you will have to wake up really early to see them all before they open and enjoy a stroll through calm Shimokita for a change, which is usually lively and full of people, who all enjoy the flair of a non-conform place.
