Hanami

Underneath the cherries in full bloom

In Tokyo the arrival of spring coincides with the flowering of the cherry, sakura. Everybody looks forward to this event every year. And thus magazines and TV channels present flowering forecasts for each region of the country. You can follow the “cherry blossom flowering front”, which progresses little by little from the South to the North of the country. This year it’ll be the last week of March in which you will be able to see the most trees in full bloom in Tokyo.

The reason why everybody is looking forward to this event is the truly traditional hanami, where you watch the fully-bloom cherry trees in parks, for example. Of course you just need to join to realize that watching the blossoms isn’t the purpose itself, but it is mostly about getting together with the family, friends or colleagues and having a fun picnic in the park, and above all getting tipsy and enjoy the gorgeous sight offered by the delicate pink blossoms.

Enjoying hanami in a yukata now that the temperatures are rising little by little, allows you to not only have a taste of the Japanese spirit of this event but also benefit from the softness of spring. We’ve chosen a yukata for men with very modern and “fashionable” patterns as well as a set containing a yukata, obi and geta for women with fresh colors, perfectly matching the spring-like mood. And finally, a more classic yukata for women along with an obi belt that is easy to wear since the bow at the back is already tied. On top of it, of course, cherry blossoms.

You’ve chosen your outfit and all that’s left is preparing the food and the drinks. But that is not all, since it’s not about eating with the fingers. What could be more perfect, handy and Japanese than chopsticks? These are two beautiful chopstick sets for the hanami event with cherry blossoms and lovely little rabbits. You can carry them around easily in their case. If you are looking for something more sophisticated, we also have a set of lacquered chopsticks with Yuuzen patterns. The wooden case gives them a classic touch. Also coming in a wooden case are these two sets of chopsticks for a romantic picnic underneath the cherry blossoms, tête-à-tête with your loved one.
