In Japan you apply lacquer coat, made from the liquid of the Japanese lacquer tree, on bowls or chopsticks. This item was finished with the acclaimed “Aizu coating” from Aizu in the northeastern prefecture of Fukushima. Craftsmen carefully coat each item, creating the velvety feel of the lacquer’s unique glaze.
